An exchange meeting regarding disaster risk reduction and addressing the adverse effects of climate change was held at the Union Parishad office of No. 10 Pratapnagar Union in Ashashuni Upazila, Satkhira. Organized by the non-governmental development organization ‘Mrittika’ (a social development organization), the event took place on Sunday, September 13, at 3:00 PM, involving twenty youths.
Md. Abdus Salam, Executive Director of Mrittika, was present and discussed disaster-related issues. He highlighted key measures such as: early warning systems (delivering timely alerts using modern technology); public awareness (training the general public on what to do during disasters); and sustainable infrastructure (constructing flood, cyclone, and earthquake-resistant homes and embankments, as well as formulating and implementing appropriate policies at both local and national levels). Also present were youth members of the Mrittika organization, including Md. Abdul Ahad, Shilpi, Sumaiya, Sonali, Jaidul, Kiran, Rowshanara, Pipasa, Rahat, Hazrat Ali, Tamanna, Mainuna, and Sabrina. The entire event was moderated by youth member A. Ahad.
